On 22 December 2013, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Union Minister of State for Railways (MSR) dedicated the new constructed Magrahat-Diamond harbour double line to the nation.
The estimated cost of the project is Rs 150.14 crore and the project has been undertaken by the Eastern railway.
Eastern Railway has introduced double line train services between Magrahat and Diamond Harbour stations on Sealdah - Diamond Harbour section of its Sealdah Division. The total length of Sealdah - Diamond Harbour section is 19.67 km.
Earlier, Sealdah - Magrahat had been double line section and Magrahat - Diamond Harbour a single line section. With the doubling of Magrahat-Diamond Harbour section the total stretch from Sealdah to Diamond Harbour has become a double line section.
