The Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (MRIDC), also known as Maha Rail, is a joint venture (JV) of  Maharashtra government and the Indian Railways. The JV has been incorporated to provide a boost to the Rail Infrastructure projects in the state of Maharashtra on the principle of cooperative federalism. MRIDC started functioning from July 2018 for implementation of various railway projects in state.

MRIDC has also been entrusted the responsibility of construction of Road over Bridges (ROBs) in the entire Maharashtra State. There is a scope of large number of (ROBs) in the state, to be constructed by MRIDC on fast track.

Maha Rail has been given the mandate to construct a total of 17 ROBs. Of these, 15 ROBs have been entrusted by the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) and for the remaining two a memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed with the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA). The bridges will be built at both Central as well as Western Railways.

MRIDC is also looking at consultants who specialise in designing cable-stayed bridges. The JV plans to construct cable-stayed bridges, much like the Bandra-Worli sea link, all across Mumbai.

The government of Maharashtra has also signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with MRIDC for construction of a total of 308 ROBs/RUBs.
