Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping, Nitin Gadkari inaugurated the Maharana Pratap flyover and an underpass at Rajiv Chowk on 13 August, 2017.
The projects were slated to be completed by the end of June 2017. They are underway at four major intersections of the Millennium City.
The Maharana Pratap flyover, built at a cost of Rs 34 crore, will ease traffic on the stretch connecting IFFCO chowk to the city bus stand.
The Rs 30 crore underpass at Rajiv chowk will facilitate a U-turn for vehicles coming from Medanta Hospital to Delhi. It is expected to reduce vehicular traffic at one of the busiest intersections on the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway.
The two projects are part of a Rs 1,000 crore project for construction of flyovers and underpasses at four major intersections in the city: IFFCO Chowk, Signature Tower, Maharana Pratap Chowk, and Rajiv Chowk.
Launched in September 2016, the mega project is expected to be completed by March 2018. The project is expected to ease traffic flow on Delhi-Gurugram Expressway and also improve connectivity between old and new Gurugram.
As per the plan, two four-lane unidirectional flyovers and a four-lane flyover are proposed at IFFCO Chowk. Similarly, an underpass each is to be constructed at Signature Tower and Rajiv Chowk intersections.
The Union Minister for Road Transport, Highways and Shipping also laid the foundation stone for a six km long elevated corridor on Sohna road, from Subhash Chowk to Badshapur village. He also kicked off a project for the improvement of a T-junction near Dhaula Kuan metro station.
Construction of IMT Chowk flyover at Manesar will be completed by December 2017. The Kherki Daula toll plaza will be shifted eight km towards Manesar within three months after land is provided by the state.
