Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Singapore’s Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong, and Minister of Transport Jeffrey Siow on 12 August, 2025 inspected Phase 2 of PSA’s Bharat Mumbai Container Terminal (BMCT) at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA), Uran.
The delegation assessed the terminal’s readiness ahead of its formal inauguration, which will significantly increase container handling capacity at India’s busiest container port. Operated by PSA International of Singapore, BMCT is central to JNPA’s strategy to modernise India’s maritime trade infrastructure and strengthen global connectivity.
Phase 2 will introduce state-of-the-art handling equipment, expanded berth capacity, and faster vessel turnaround, bolstering India’s position in global shipping and logistics. The visit highlighted deepening India–Singapore infrastructure cooperation, with both sides expressing confidence that the expansion will boost trade volumes, generate employment, and drive Maharashtra’s economic growth.
“This project will play a vital role in enhancing India’s trade competitiveness,” officials noted, underscoring BMCT’s strategic importance for the nation’s export-import ecosystem.
