The Maharashtra Cabinet Infrastructure Committee approved a Metro project to connect Mumbai and Navi Mumbai international airports with a 35-km corridor, to be developed at a cost of Rs 22,862 crore.
The project will have 20 stations, including six underground and 14 elevated ones. Land acquisition for the project, covering 30.7 hectares, is expected to cost ?388 crore. The Metro Line 8, which will link Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport to Navi Mumbai Airport, will feature a 9.25 km underground section from Mumbai Airport Terminal 2 to Ghatkopar East, and a 24.63 km elevated section from Ghatkopar West to Navi Mumbai Airport Terminal 2.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis instructed that land acquisition and necessary approvals be completed within six months, with construction slated to finish within three years. Additionally, the committee approved the Nashik city ring road project, and the upgradation of roads in Gadchiroli district to facilitate mineral transport.
