The Maharashtra State Cabinet Infrastructure Committee, led by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, has approved two new elevated corridors for Pune Metro Phase 2.
The two corridors—Hadapsar–Loni Kalbhor (11.35 km) and Hadapsar Bus Depot–Saswad Road (5.57 km), will feature a total of 14 stations and are projected to cost Rs 5,704 crore. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar hailed the decision as a success of his efforts to fast-track longdelayed projects. The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation (Maha-Metro) will oversee the implementation, in partnership with the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA). The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) will manage land acquisition, estimated at Rs 3.6 crore.
The project will be funded through a combination of state and central contributions (20 percent each) with the remaining funding raised via loans. The proposal is awaiting central government approvals before implementation begins.
