Nashik district has attracted two major industrial projects worth Rs 5,561 crore, expected to generate 1,666 direct and indirect employment. The Maharashtra government has signed MoUs with Graphite India and Virtuoso Optoelectronics (VOPL) to set up facilities in the region.
Graphite India will invest Rs 4,761 crore at Gonde, around 25 km from Nashik city, to manufacture synthetic graphite anode material (SGAM), a crucial component for lithium-ion batteries. The project will create approx. 1,166 work roles and strengthen India’s battery manufacturing ecosystem. VOPL will invest Rs 800 crore in Dindori to establish a new plant for electronic products and compressor motors, generating about 500 work opportunities. Graphite India confirmed the MoU signing on August 29, subject to final corporate and regulatory approvals.
Additionally, the state government signed separate MoUs with General Polyfilms for Rs 1,000 crore BOPET films facility in Nandurbar, and Next Generation Manufacturers Rs 1,000 crore electronics unit in Ahilyanagar.
