India’s first high-speed rail project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad saw a major announcement. First tenders have been floated for construction of a bridge under the project.
The National High Speed Rail Corporation has invited bids for construction of PSC Bridge No GAD 10 over NH-48, 235.379 km in Navsari district of Gujarat for Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Railway Project.
The bullet train project will entail an investment of Rs 1.08 lakh crore. The government of Maharashtra has recently allocated Rs 250 crore for the bullet train project.
The project will be developed under the objectives of ‘Make in India’ and ‘Transfer of Technology’ objectives.
Most part of the 508 km corridor is proposed to be on the elevated track, and there will be a stretch after Thane creek towards Virar which will go under the sea. The proposed bullet train will start underground from BKC and travel 21 km in a tunnel passing through the sea before emerging above the ground at Thane.
