Maxivision Super Speciality Eye Hospitals plans to invest Rs 400 crore in Tamil Nadu over the next two to three years, marking its debut in Chennai with 10 super specialty hospitals and vision centres.
Of this, Rs 100 crore is earmarked for Chennai alone. Founded in 1996 by Dr. Kasu Prasad Reddy and acquired by Dr. GSK Velu in 2011, Maxivision raised Rs 1,300 crore from PE firm Quadria Capital in 2023 and aims for an IPO in 2027.
The company already operates in Trichy, Madurai, Salem, Tanjore, Kumbakonam, and Perambalur, and plans to cover all districts in Tamil Nadu. It targets 25–30 vision centres and seven to eight hospitals in Chennai within the year, and 100 hospitals and 100 vision centres across India by financial year end. The expansion will focus on advanced technology, early diagnosis, preventive care, and ophthalmic skill development.
Chennai’s facilities will be inaugurated by cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
