Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT) has firmed up plans to set up a medical college-cum-hospital at its Wadala plot in Mumbai. MbPT has completed the project report for the Rs 1,000 crore hospital and has forwarded the proposal to the shipping ministry for its approval.
MbPT has set aside 11.5 acre of its land at Wadala for the proposed 950 bed hospital. At present, the Trust is running a 260 bed hospital at Wadala. Once the new hospital is built, the old one will be demolished in phases.
Subject to the ministry’s clearance, MbPT is confident of completing the hospital project within two years.
