The 594 km Ganga Expressway, which will ultimately connect Meerut to Prayagraj, is moving closer to becoming operational with the initial 130 km Meerut-Badaun section expected to open by November.
Though originally slated for completion by 12 October, heavy monsoon rains delayed progress. Construction is nearly complete, except for the approach road to the Simbhaoli railway overbridge, which requires significant soil work but is on track for end-October completion. Built by L&T under UPEIDA’s supervision, this stretch features a toll plaza at Kharkhari, welcome boards, streetlights, speed-monitoring systems, security cameras linked to a control room, and fully functional internet and toll infrastructure.
The Meerut district portion includes 14 structures such as bridges, flyovers, and underpasses, while the entire Meerut-Badaun section boasts 161 structures, including major and minor bridges, flyovers, railway overbridges, and underpasses. This marks a significant milestone for Uttar Pradesh’s largest infrastructure initiative.
