Megha Engineering & Infrastructures (MEIL) has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for a major irrigation contract in Odisha.
The work involves the execution of four lift irrigation schemes with intake points on the Tel River, Mahanadi, and the confluence of Tel and Suktel Rivers. The schemes will cover a command area ranging from 500 Ha to 2000 Ha, with a total planned cultivable area of 6,025 Ha. These schemes are part of Cluster No. XXX in the Sonepur district. The work includes the distribution network, power system connectivity, and operation and maintenance of the completed projects for 15 years on an EPC-turnkey basis.
Issued by the Water Resources Department, the work entails overseeing the construction, and the project is expected to improve irrigation infrastructure, benefiting the local farming community. The company’s successful bid is seen as a significant step in enhancing its portfolio in water resource management.
