A request for the transfer of the Meghadri Gadda reservoir from the Irrigation Department to Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) has been formally made by the district administration.

Vizag Collector Harendhira Prasad has urged the Andhra Pradesh Assembly’s estimates panel to recommend funding for the renovation of the Gadda Reservoir, located in the GVMC region, which is in a deteriorated condition. During a review meeting with the estimates panel, the Collector emphasised that transferring the reservoir’s management to the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) would ensure better utilisation of the water resource to meet the city’s growing water demands.

Committee Chairman Vegulla Jogeswara Rao highlighted the importance of field-specific estimates and efficient use of state government funds to ensure successful development works. He further stressed the need for officials to seek fresh permissions for the reservoir's renovation and submit proposals to the central government.
