Former Minister and Chamundeshwari MLA GT Devegowda has urged officials to fast-track the Melapura drinking water project to address water shortages in peripheral layouts of Mysuru, including Rammanahalli, Vasantha Nagar, and others.
During a meeting held at the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) Zone-3 office, attended by officials from MCC, Mysuru Development Authority (MDA), and Karnataka Urban Water Supply and Drainage Board (KUWSDB), discussions focused on ensuring equitable water supply across city outskirts. The former Minister directed the swift completion of works under the Amrut-2 scheme and called for the preparation of a new detailed project report (DPR) to cover neglected layouts.
KUWSDB officials confirmed that water is currently being supplied from Melapura, with plans to extend the supply to several layouts. A plan to provide five MLD of water to Rammanahalli and others has been included. Additionally, a Rs 34 crore project for constructing six water tanks will cater to areas like Hanchya and Kalisiddanahundi.
