Mitsubishi Chemical Group plans to enter India’s green speciality sector, focusing on semiconductor and EV supply chain materials, according to CEO Manabu Chikumoto.
Speaking at a Bengal Chamber of Commerce event on 12 March 2025, he noted that other Japanese firms were also eager to invest. Currently, Mitsubishi operates polypropylene manufacturing in Rajasthan, an industrial gas business in Pune, and a compounding unit in Gujarat. The firm may explore a mono methyl acrylate (MMA) business in India, where it currently has plants in Saudi Arabia and Singapore.
The company is open to partnerships or setting up a greenfield unit for its new ventures.
