Uttar Pradesh (UP) is set to position itself as a key player in India’s semiconductor industry, with the HCL–Foxconn joint venture expected to start operations by 2027-28.
State IT and Electronics Minister, Sunil Kumar Sharma, confirmed that the UP government has already allotted land for the project and is providing 60 percent capital support, along with essential utilities like electricity and water supply. He also pitched UP as a future global leader in electronics manufacturing.
The state is actively courting major tech players, including Apple, and has approved the Rs 27,000 crore Tarq Semiconductor project. Sharma noted that the electronics sector will be pivotal in UP's goal of becoming a $1-trillion economy.
