The installation of a gas pipeline connecting Mizoram with neighboring Tripura is currently underway.
The project, being executed under the North East Gas Grid (NEGG) initiative, aims to bring household gas connections to Mizoram, especially benefiting residents of Aizawl. The pipeline, extending from Panisagar in Tripura to Sihhmui near Aizawl, covers a distance of 119 km, with 104 km in Mizoram and the remainder in Tripura. Mizoram’s Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister B Lalchhanzova recently chaired a review meeting, noting that 23.5 percent (28 km) of the work has been completed.
The state government and Indradhanush Gas Grid Limited (IGGL), the executing agency, are working together to ensure the early completion of the project, which will significantly improve the region's access to natural gas.
