Mumbai Metro Line 2B, part of the Yellow Line connecting the city's eastern and western suburbs, is progressing in phases.
The 23.6-km corridor will eventually run from DN Nagar to Mandale with 20 stations. Line 2A (Dahisar to DN Nagar) is operational, while Line 2B is under construction. Phase 1 of Line 2B—stretching 5.3 km from Mandale to Diamond Garden, is expected to open by December 2025, following successful trial runs and CMRS clearance. Phase 2, include ESIC Nagar, Prem Nagar, Indira Nagar, Nanavati Hospital, Khira Nagar, and Saraswat Nagaris targeted for launch by summer 2026.
Key stations in this phase include ESIC Nagar, Nanavati Hospital, and Khira Nagar. However, the Central portion between Saraswat Nagar and Diamond Garden, covering Bandra, BKC, and Kurla, remains delayed due to previous contractor and utility relocation issues. Originally planned for completion by October 2022, the project has been delayed by over three years. Meanwhile, Metro Lines 7 and 2A have temporary schedule changes from October 12–18 for Metro 9 integration work.
