Mysuru district has achieved 83.9 percent physical progress under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), providing piped drinking water to 4.45 lakh rural households out of the targeted 4.79 lakh.
The initiative, spearheaded by the Zilla Panchayat's Rural Water Supply Department, aims to provide safe and adequate drinking water through individual household tap connections to all rural households by 2028. The project covered 618 villages across 291 gram panchayats, with 13 major development works undertaken at an estimated cost of Rs 1,293.66 crore. Of this, Rs 896.9 crore (69.3 percent) has been utilised. Around 65.9 MLD of water is being supplied under the scheme.
Funding was shared equally by the state and Union governments (37.5 percent each), with the Zilla Panchayat contributing 15 percent and the remaining 10 percent collected from beneficiaries, and priority was given to villages already receiving water under the Multi-Village Drinking Water Scheme.
As of June 2025, 1,580 man-days of work were completed. ZP officials, led by CEO Ukesh Kumar, are ensuring transparency and minimal disruption to existing infrastructure. Gram panchayats will manage water metering and tax collection once tap connections are installed.
