National Aluminium Company (NALCO) has executed a mining lease deed with the state government of Odisha. It encompasss an area of 697.979 hectares for bauxite mines in Pottangi tehsil, Koraput district of the state.
The mines have an annual production capacity of 3.5 million tonne and have reserves estimated at 111 million tonne, with a mine life projected for 32 years. After the remaining requisite statutory clearances are received, the mine is expected to become operational shortly.
The mined bauxite would be transported to Nalco Refinery at Damanjodi through 18.5 km overland conveyor.
NALCO, a Group 'A' CPSE has integrated and diversified operations in mining metal and power. It is engaged in the business of manufacturing and sale of alumina and aluminium.
