National Aluminium Company's (NALCO) expansion project at its alumina
refinery at Damanjodi in Koraput district is to be delayed by about nine months
because of the naxal attack at its Orissa site in early-2009 that stalled the
construction work.
NALCO is in the process of augmenting the production capacity from 1.57 to
2.1 million tonne as part of its Rs 4,402-crore Phase II expansion project. The
company planned to start commercial production of the refinery from June 2010,
but now it is expected to be done in March 2011.
