Runaya Metsource and Germany-based ECKART have launched their joint venture, Runaya Eckart Aluminium Powders (REL), in Jharsuguda, Odisha.
This marks the establishment of India’s first plant for manufacturing green, spherical gas-atomised aluminium powders. The facility will produce high-precision aluminium powders for applications in aviation, aerotechnology, process catalysts, and effect pigments. These fine powders are critical for creating shimmer, sparkle, and colour-shifting effects in various products. The REL plant uses a sophisticated atomisation process, which involves atomising molten aluminium at high temperature and pressure to produce uniform, spherical powders with a mean particle size of around one micron. These powders are tailored for specific customer requirements.
The facility also plans to manufacture specialised aluminium powders for emerging high-tech applications, including aerospace components, solar pastes for silicon solar cells, and refractory materials. The joint venture combines ECKART's global leadership in aluminium powders with Runaya's expertise in low-carbon, waste-to-wealth manufacturing solutions.
