Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) is making significant progress towards 100 percent electrification and net-zero carbon emissions, aligning with Indian Railways’ sustainability goals.
A key milestone has been achieved with the electrification of the Alipurduar Division (APDJ), while work in the Tinsukia Division (TSK) continues steadily. “In APDJ, the electrification of the Fakiragram–Golakganj section (46 RKM / 50.536 TKM) marks the final step towards full division electrification, ensuring greater efficiency and sustainability. Similarly, the electrification of the New Coochbehar–Dinhata–Bamanhat sections (49.81 RKM / 55.71 TKM) further reinforces railway modernization in NFR. This achievement includes SCADA implementation, Trip Unit Rating supply at stations, and successful electric loco trials. Notably, the electric loco trial commenced at 19:16 hours, arriving at Fakiragram (FKM) at 20:11 hours, demonstrating the successful implementation of electrification,” as per Northeast Frontier Railway.
“With these advancements, the Northeast Frontier Railway remains committed to modernizing railway infrastructure and actively contributing to the Government of India’s 'Mission Electrification' initiative. By prioritising sustainability and efficiency, NFR is paving the way for a greener, more reliable, and future-ready railway network, seamlessly connecting the Northeastern states with the rest of the country,” Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR, Kapinjal Kishore Sharma said.
