The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has set four Guinness World Records on the Bengaluru-Kadapa-Vijayawada Economic Corridor (NH-544G), marking a global first in highway construction.
These records include the longest continuous laying of bituminous concrete, covering 28.89 lane km in 24 hours, and the highest quantity of 10,655 metric tonnes laid within the same period. Two additional records were achieved on January 11, including continuous paving of 156 lane km and laying 57,500 tonne of bituminous concrete, surpassing previous world records. The feats were executed across Packages 2 and 3 of the six-lane, 343 km corridor designed for safe, high-speed travel, featuring tunnels, interchanges, and wayside amenities.
“Setting four Guinness World Records reflects our commitment to innovation, efficiency, and world-class engineering,” said a senior NHAI representative. The corridor is expected to improve connectivity, safety, and scenic travel while demonstrating the country’s leadership in highway construction.
