The Jharkhand Government has accorded a no-objection certificate (NOC) to
Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) and SAIL to set up medical college in Ranchi
and Bokaro respectively.
Now that the state government has given approval the companies can approach
the Medical Council of India (MCI).
HEC already has a 350-bed hospital in Ranchi, which is sufficient to start a
medical college, as per the MCI norms. The company is likely to set up the
college with an initial capacity of 100 seats.
Meanwhile, SAIL will attach its existing hospital with the proposed medical
college.
