National Textile Corporation (NTC) has invested Rs 150 crore to modernise
three mills in Mumbai, to be inaugurated on 19 January 2010.
NTC's three mills - Tata Mills in Parel, Podar Mills in Lower Parel and Indu
Mills No 5 near Lalbaug - are likely to use new German and American equipment.
These mills are expected to carry out only spinning and weaving operations, not
processing. Together they are likely to produce 10-12 million kg of yarn per
annum and 14 million tonne of cloth.
Apart from the revival of these three, NTC has taken the JV route to
redevelop India United Mills No 1, Apollo Mills and Gold Mohur Mills, in Mumbai.
