NTPC has commissioned 192 MW of solar capacity and 9.9 MW of wind capacity, further expanding its renewable energy portfolio.
The solar capacity includes 167 MW at the Nokh Solar project in Rajasthan and 25 MW in Bhuj, Gujarat, while the wind capacity was added in Bhuj through its subsidiary NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL). These additions raise NTPC’s total installed capacity to 60,705 MW on a standalone basis and 83,888 MW on a group basis. The wind and solar projects are owned by Ayana Renewable Power Four, a subsidiary of Ayana Renewable Power, which is part of NGEL’s joint venture ONGC NTPC Green.
NGEL’s total installed capacity now stands at 7,407.47 MW. Recently, NGEL also commissioned 100 MW of a 500 MW solar project by IRCON Renewable Power at Karnataka’s Pavagada Solar Park, part of IRCON International’s five GW grid-connected solar project awarded in a 2021 auction.
