NTPC has announced the commercial operation date (COD) for 359.58 MW from its solar projects in Gujarat and Rajasthan, bringing its total commercial capacity to over 85.5 GW.
The company declared COD for 243.66 MW of the 1255 MW Khavda-1 Solar PV project in Gujarat, developed by NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL), a subsidiary of NTPC. Additionally, 78 MW from the 245 MW Nokh Sokar PV project in Rajasthan was also declared as operational. NTPC further added 37.925 MW from its 300 MW Khavda Solar Energy Project, part of the 450 MW Hybrid Tranche V project in Gujarat. "With this, the total installed and commercial capacity of NTPC Group has reached 85,541 MW," said the company.
NTPC continues to play a major role in India's power sector, contributing to one-fourth of the country's power needs, and has an additional 30.90 GW under construction, including 13.3 GW of renewable energy capacity.
