The government is rolling out the Green Energy Corridor Phase-II (GEC Phase-II) scheme across seven states—Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, and Uttar Pradesh.
This initiative aims to integrate 20 GW of renewable energy into India's national grid, said Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, Shripad Yesso Naik. Out of the 91 infrastructure packages planned, 73 have been tendered and 67 awarded. However, despite progress, no renewable energy projects have been connected to the grid yet under GEC Phase-II.
The government has also ruled out any immediate expansion of the existing production linked incentive (PLI) scheme for solar photovoltaic modules, with no plans for introducing a new PLI scheme for domestic solar panel manufacturing.
