State-run NTPC has announced the opening of its Pakri-Barwadih coal mining project in Jharkhand.
Last year, NTPC was reallotted five coal blocks that were cancelled earlier by the Supreme Court. The five blocks include Chatti-Bariatu, Chatti-Bariatu (South), Kerandari in Jharkhand, Dulanga in Odisha, and Talaipalli in Chhattisgarh.
The company has set a target of adding 11,900 MW capacity during the current Plan period ending in 2016-17. It has set a target of installed power generating capacity of 1,28,000 MW by 2032.
