Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) is set to float tenders for the Silver Line of Namma Metro’s Phase 3, connecting Hossahalli Metro Station to Kadabagere along Magadi Road.

The 12.15-km corridor will be implemented as a double-decker project, combining a surface road, flyover, and elevated metro line, which is expected to slow construction and increase costs. Preparatory work, including ground and soil testing, is nearly complete, but progress has been delayed due to approvals for tall stations and coordination challenges with government and private agencies. Execution of Metro projects in Bengaluru has historically been slow, averaging seven to eight km per year, and the double-decker design is expected to reduce the pace to three–five km per year.

The elevated metro line is estimated to cost Rs 15,611 crore, with an additional Rs 9,700 crore for flyover construction. Groundwork is planned to start in June 2026, with the project expected to take five-and-a-half years for completion.
