National Fertilizers' (NFL) Board of Directors, in a meeting held on 18 April, 2025, has approved entering into a joint venture agreement with nominated companies for the establishment of the Namrup-IV Fertilizer Plant in Namrup, Assam. This strategic move underscores NFL’s commitment to expanding its footprint in the northeastern region and enhancing urea production capacity to meet the country’s growing agricultural demands.
The joint venture will involve collaboration with selected entities, and while the names of the participating companies have not been disclosed yet, the agreement lays the foundation for creating a Joint Venture Company (JVC) that will oversee the execution of the Namrup-IV project.Shareholding shall be 18 percent of equity shares In the joint venture to be acquired. The estimated investment for acquiring shares in the new company is Rs 572.45 crore, and requlatory approvals will be required from DoF, Ministry of Chemicals.
The Namrup-IV project aims to establish a state-of-the-art ammonia-urea production facility. According to the plan, the mechanical completion and commissioning of the complex is expected to be achieved within 48 months from the project’s zero date.
