The 63rd Executive Committee meeting of the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) has sanctioned a Rs 126.41 crore sewerage management project for Agra, Uttar Pradesh, aimed at improving the city’s sanitation infrastructure and preserving its water bodies.
The initiative includes the construction of 40 interception and diversion (I&D) structures and laying 21.20 km of I&D sewer lines to efficiently redirect sewage away from water bodies. To ensure robust sewage control, the project also features eight advanced pumping stations and the installation of trash screens in five major drains to block pollutants, enhancing water quality and public health
Executed under the design-build-operate-transfer (DBOT) model, the project promises a sustainable and technologically sound solution for long-term environmental and civic benefit.
In addition, the NMCG approved a Rs eight crore project to study the environmental flow of the Ghaghara and Gomti river basins. Utilising drones and on-site monitoring, this initiative will compile detailed ecological data, covering water quality, biodiversity, and human impact, across various weather conditions.
