Nearly 96 percent of Maharashtra land has been acquired in Thane, Palghar and Mumbai for Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project.
In Maharashtra, a total of 1,070 acre of land was required, of which around 1,015 acre have been acquired. Possession of nearly 71 percent has been handed over to the National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL), which is executing this project.
In Thane, 348 acre was required and the state government has already acquired 333 acre. Of this, NHSRCL is in possession of 260 acre. Apart from this, nearly 675 acre of the total 712 acre of land in Palghar district had also been acquired, and NHSRCL had been handed over possession of 506 acres.
In Mumbai, 2.4 acre of the total 11.9 acre have been handed over to the NHSRCL.
MMRDA has assured that BKC land needed for the bullet train project's terminus will be handed over by December 2022.
