Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) plans to invest Rs 250 crore for expansion of a
power train facility in its Tapukara plant in Rajasthan.
With the new investment, the company's overall investment in the Tapukara
plant is expected to go up to Rs 1,170 crore by December 2010.
The power train facility which is currently under construction is slated to
be ready by December 2010. It is likely to be utilised to manufacture engine and
transmission components such as cylinder heads and cylinder blocks. Presently,
HSCI imports these components from Indonesia and Thailand.
Currently, the Tapukara plant produces crankshaft and connecting rods for
vehicles that are assembled at its Greater Noida plant in Uttar Pradesh, besides
export purposes.
