Lanco Infratech is expected to achieve financial closure for at least three
coal based power projects entailing total investment of over Rs 15,000 crore.
These include the Amarkantak expansion Phase II (Chhattisgarh), Mahanadi
(Maharashtra) and Babandh (Orissa) projects.
According to sources, the company is likely to raise funds by June 2010. The
projects are expected to take 36-48 months to implement from the zero date of
achieving financial closure.
Amarkantak Phase I of 300 MW is operational and the second unit of 300 MW is
to be ready by March 2010. Phase II is expected to add 1,320 MW (660x2), taking
the capacity there to 1,920 MW.
At Babandh, Lanco has planned a 2,640 MW project with Phase I comprising of
two units of 660 MW each. The 1,320 MW Mahanadi project was bagged through a
competitive bid.
