NTPC has proposed to set up a power project in Ghana in exchange of liquified
natural gas (LNG).
The project is in initial stages of discussion and NTPC is ready to build gas
based or coal based plant depending upon the fuel available. In return, the
company expects to receive 2.5 million tpa of LNG for 25 years.
NTPC is seeking supplies for seven plants fuelled by gas or liquid fuel with
a total capacity of 3,955 MW. All these plants are currently unable to utilise
capacity efficiently because of fuel shortages.
