The Noida Metro Rail project has received approval from the Ministry of Urban Development.
The Ministry has given its nod to appoint Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) as a consultant for the project, on a turnkey basis. The project envisages 30 km metro rail link between Noida and Greater Noida. In 2013, the Noida Authority decided to form a Noida Metro Rail Company (NMRC) to construct the project.
The metro project will entail an investment of Rs 5,000 crore and it will be funded by two industrial authorities of Noida and Greater Noida. Construction work will commence after an MoU is signed between the authority and DMRC. The terms of the MoU have already been approved and submitted to the government of Uttar Pradesh for clearance.
The project will have a total of 22 stations - 13 on ground and seven elevated. Two stations at Knowledge Park-I and sector Delta-I in Greater Noida are planned for future expansion. It is expected to be completed by 2017.
