The Aqua Line of Noida Metro is set for a major expansion from Sector-61 to Knowledge Park V, covering 17.4 km with 11 new stations.
The proposal, to be executed in two phases, is soon to be submitted to the Public Investment Board (PIB) for clearance, according to the Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC). Once completed, the project will directly benefit over four lakh commuters, easing congestion and boosting last-mile connectivity across Noida and Greater Noida West. In Phase 1, the line will extend from Sector-51 to Sector-2, while Phase 2 will connect Greater Noida Sector-2 to Sector-5.
Of the 11 stations, three (3.3 km) will be located in Noida and eight (14.1 km) in Greater Noida. Sector-61 will serve as an interchange hub. The estimated cost of the expansion is Rs 2,991 crore, with Noida contributing 33 percent and Greater Noida covering 67 percent, supported further by GIA and GeoUPs. The extension is expected to serve 1.23 lakh daily passengers initially and enhance residential, commercial, and institutional growth in Noida Extension. Pending PIB approval, construction may commence within three months, with completion expected in three to four years.
The 11 proposed stations include: Sector-61, Sector-70, Sector-122, Sector-123, Greater Noida Sector-4, Ecotech-12, Greater Noida Sector-2, Greater Noida Sector-3, Greater Noida Sector-10, Greater Noida Sector-12, and Knowledge Park-5. Out of these, Sector-61 will be developed into an interchange hub.
