Nova Medical, a company floated jointly by US based GTI Group and an Indian
surgeon Dr Mahesh Reddy, plans to set up a chain of day care hospitals across
the country.
GTI holds a 72 per cent stake in Nova, while Dr Mahesh owns the remaining 28
per cent.
The company plans to set up 100 day care centres across the country at an
outlay of Rs 800 crore. Apart from the six large metros, the first 25 centres
may come up in cities such as Jaipur (Rajasthan), Amritsar (Punjab), Ahmedabad
(Gujarat), Pune (Maharashtra).
The firm plans to give a small stake in each hospital to local doctors who
will also practice at the centre. GTI will bring in 70 per cent, or Rs 7 crore,
of the investment in each hospital and the remaining Rs 3 crore is expected to
be brought in by the doctors.
