Oberoi Hotels & Resorts plans to reopen its Mumbai hotel on 24 April 2010.
The company has spent close to $40 million (about Rs 170 crore) for the
reconstruction of the hotel.
In the revamped Oberoi, the number of rooms has been brought down to 287 from
327, which are bigger and upgraded with latest technology. The suites have
increased from 22 to 73.
The hotel will now have three restaurants, a lounge and a bar. 'Kandahar' is
now 'Ziya,' the new Indian speciality restaurant; the earlier 'Tiffin' has been
replaced with Fenix. Vetro is the contemporary Italian restaurant, with also a
glass encased wine library 'Vetro's Enoteca'. Also, the hotel will have 'Eau
Bar', which will serve beverages and have a live jazz band performance in the
evenings. 'Tea Lounge' just off the lobby is now the 'Champagne Lounge' and will
have a range of champagne and teas for guests.
The meetings and conferencing facilities have also been upgraded. An outdoor
heated swimming pool, The Oberoi Spa and a fitness centre will also be available
to guests.
