Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the Dubna Iron Ore Mines and launched key IT and green energy initiatives at the 70th Foundation Day celebration of the Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) held at OUAT, Bhubaneswar on 17 May, 2025.
The event was attended by senior officials including Steel & Mines Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, and OMC MD Sudhansu Mohan Samal. Located at Barbil, Keonjhar district, the newly opened Dubna mines have an annual production capacity of three million tonne of iron ore and 0.05 million tonne of manganese, with total reserves of 25.77 million tonne of iron ore and 2.6 million tonne of manganese.
In parallel, a 920 kWp solar power plant was unveiled across mines in Barbil and Koira, and power infrastructure commissioned for Tiringpahar Mines and Rengalbeda RR Colony. Marking OMC’s digital transformation, four IT platforms were launched: logistics management system (LMS), plotwise land use system (OPLUS), finance management system (OFMS) and recruitment management system (ORMS). The CM reiterated the state’s goal to become a manufacturing hub under Vision 2036, and emphasised downstream industrialisation, ore beneficiation, and pelletisation to boost employment and attract investments.
