Oil India (OIL) has partnered with the Government of Assam to establish a new fertilizer plant in the state, the company announced on 26 July, 2025.
The joint venture, named Assam Valley Fertilizer and Chemical (AVFCCL), also includes National Fertilizers (NFL), Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan (HURL), and Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation (BVFCL) as stakeholders. The venture has been incorporated for the development of the Namrup IV Fertilizer Plant, an Ammonia-Urea Complex, to be set up at Namrup, Assam.
This project is aimed at enhancing fertilizer production capacity to meet the growing agricultural demands in the region and support self-reliance in fertilizer manufacturing. The collaboration underscores a significant step in boosting industrial infrastructure and fostering economic growth in Assam through public sector participation in the fertilizer sector. In a stock exchange filing, OIL stated that it holds an 18 percent equity stake in AVFCCL.
