The Orissa government is planning to develop a new solar power project at Manmunda in Boudh district.
The project will be implemented by Green Energy Development Corporation of Odisha (GEDCOL). The solar power unit is part of the Solar Energy Corporation of India's initiative to develop solar projects of 750 MW in different parts of the country. GEDCOL plans to bid for 50 MW solar power to be set up in Orissa at the proposed site. Industrial Development Corporation of Odisha (IDCO) has been requested to provide land to GEDCOL. The corporation will invest Rs 400 crore for the proposed project.
Further, the generated power from the project will be purchased by GRIDCO as per renewable power obligation. The project will be implemented on PPP mode and will require 250 acre.
