Otis India has been awarded a major contract to install 65 Gen2 Nova elevators for the Patna Metro project, marking a significant milestone in Bihar’s infrastructure development. The elevators, manufactured at Otis' Bengaluru facility, will be supplied, installed, and maintained by the company.
The units are equipped with features to enhance accessibility for people with reduced mobility, aligning with the project's focus on inclusive and modern public transport infrastructure. The Patna Metro is the first of its kind in Bihar and forms a crucial part of the Indian government’s broader infrastructure push. With 26 planned stations across two lines stretching nearly 30 km, the project is a centrepiece of a long-term national investment strategy aimed at modernising urban mobility. This strategy includes expansive upgrades to metro, airport, and railway systems across the country.
Otis' involvement is a notable example of the “Make in India” initiative in action. By designing and producing its elevators locally, Otis supports domestic manufacturing and job creation, while also ensuring that world-class vertical transportation systems are available for India's rapidly growing cities. The Nova elevators, known for their energy-efficient and space-saving design, will play a key role in enhancing mobility within the metro network.
