Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) and three major private sector developers—Adani Energy Solutions (AESL), Resonia (formerly Sterlite Grid32), and Tata Power have emerged as key contenders for a significant intrastate transmission system (InSTS) project in Pune, Maharashtra.
These four companies have qualified based on their technical bids, clearing the way for the opening of initial price bids. The project is being awarded under the tariff- based competitive bidding (TBCB) model. The scheme is currently housed under "Jejuri Hinjewadi Power Transmission," a wholly-owned subsidiary of REC Power Development & Consultancy (RECPDCL), which is serving as the bid process coordinator.
The project, officially titled “Network expansion scheme in Maharashtra for removal of transmission constraints in Pune region & providing supply to data centre loads,” has a completion timeline of 18 months from the date of the special purpose vehicle (SPV) transfer. The scheme involves setting up a 400 kV double-circuit transmission line between the Jejuri and Hinjewadi GIS substations, with a total transfer capacity of 2,000 MW. It also includes installing four 400 kV line bays—two at each substation—to improve reliability and support growing demand.
