Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers (RCF) and National Fertilizers (NFL) are planning to set up five new factories to manufacture nano-urea under a licence from IFFCO, for its patented nanotechnology-based fertiliser.
Based on current statistics, India produces 170 million bottles of nano-urea annually (quivalent to 7.5 million tonne of conventional urea) and is targeting a production of 440 million bottles equivalent to 20 million tonne of urea by 2025 to further reduce the environmental impact of fertiliser production.
To advance this goal, the sector will get a further boost as private entities have also showed interest in setting up nano-urea facilities.
