Ratnagiri Gas & Power (RGPPL) on 1
May 2006, has restarted the Dabhol project with an initial generation of 100 MW
from its gas turbine 2A of block II of 740 MW.
The power has been immediately
connected to the grid of Maharashtra which is reeling under acute power crises.
RGPPL and the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. (MahaVitran) has
already entered into a bilateral agreement for the use of Dabhol power at per
unit tariff of Rs.4.25 upto end-June 2006.
The project which was synchronised
with the initial generation of 30 MW on 30 April 2006, had been closed down on
technical grounds as RGPPL had to source additional hydrogen which was needed
for cooling operations.
