ROHM and Tata Electronics have formed a strategic partnership in the semiconductor sector to manufacture chips in India for both domestic and global markets.
This collaboration will leverage ROHM's device technology and Tata Electronics' assembly and testing capabilities to create a manufacturing framework for power semiconductors, helping to meet local demand while providing advanced technology solutions. As the first step, Tata Electronics will assemble and test automotive power-saving components designed by ROHM, with plans to start deliveries to customers next year. The partnership aligns with the Indian government's "Make in India" initiative and aims to build a sustainable, region-based supply chain.
Kazuhide Ino from ROHM said, "We are confident that this collaboration will enable us to meet the growing demand from Indian customers seeking domestically produced semiconductors." Tata Electronics is also developing India's first large chip-making factory in Gujarat, and another testing facility in Assam to support various industries.
