Radisson Hotel Group has expanded its presence in India’s rapidly growing religious tourism market by launching properties in Shirdi, Puri, and Indore, with plans for an upcoming opening in Ujjain.
The luxury hotel group is capitalising on India’s Rs 1.34 trillion religious tourism sector, which recorded over 1,439 million visits in 2022. The group’s strategy focuses on emerging spiritual hubs, and it has already established a foothold in culturally significant locations like Ayodhya and Prayagraj. According to Radisson, religious tourism is a key driver of domestic travel and hospitality demand, with continued growth expected in the sector.
"Steady footfall, improved infrastructure, and enhanced transport connectivity underscore the growing need for organised, high-quality hospitality offerings in culturally important cities," the company stated. The rise of spiritual tourism is expected to boost infrastructure development, connectivity, and job creation in these destinations.
